The first aim of this book is to remind all pediatricians that hypertension in children does exist, and that it can be easily diagnosed and managed. The covered topics range from the regulation of blood pressure and its assessment in children to day-to-day management. The included calculator provides hypertension assessment software: entering data about sex, height, systolic and diastolic pressure, the program indicates the presence and severity of hypertension. On the basis of international guidelines, it further suggests treatment and helps to choose the appropriate among behavioral or pharmacological alternatives.

Chiara Giovannozzi has a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Torino, specializing in pediatrics. She worked as a physician at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the St. Anna Hospital and at the foundation Crescere insieme al Sant’Anna. Currently she works as a pediatrician at the San Lorenzo Hospital in Carmagnola. She has published many articles on pediatric matters in national and international journals, and she has participated in scientific meetings on subjects such as pediatric emergency, promotion and support of breastfeeding, and accompanying birth. For SEEd Medical Publishers she published the book Segni e sintomi insoliti in pediatria (2007, Unusual or Rare Signs and Symptoms in Pediatrics).
