Harley A. Haynes, MD, is Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and a member of the Department of Dermatology at Massachusetts General Brigham Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Haynes has received numerous awards for his outstanding leadership, among them the Department of Dermatology’s Sam Moschella Teaching Scholar Award in 1997, and the Daniel D. Federman Outstanding Clinical Educator Award in 2000. The Dermatology Foundation recognized his fundamental impact on the preparation of tomorrow’s dermatologists with their Lifetime Career Educator Award in 2004. Extensively published, Dr. Haynes also influenced the training of dermatology residents through his bedside teaching and many contributions to national educational committees and his significant number of teaching materials. Dr. Haynes was diagnosed with prostate cancer 2013. Richard M. Miles has written for numerous publications including The Birmingham Post-Herald, Newsweek Magazine, The Atlanta Constitution, and the Turkish Ministry of Tourism in Ankara, Turkey. He spent more than 20 years with the Bell System, then led communications programs at General DataComm and GenRad. Miles and a colleague then formed Aegis Communications Group, Inc. Miles has received numerous awards for his writing and journalistic design work, including two Apex Awards for Publications Excellence, Golden and Silver Flame Awards, a Gold Mercury International Award, the BellSouth Chairman’s Award the Southern Bell President’s Team Award, among others. Miles now lives in Hilton Head Island, SC. Miles was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002.
