Dementia and Memory: Introduction for Professionals in Health and Human Services
Thomas J. Farrer is a clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in dementia assessment. He obtained doctoral training in clinical psychology, with subsequent training in neuropsychology. He has ongoing research interests in dementia and brain imaging and he is currently an Assistant Professor at the Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. Elise Eifert is an assistant professor in and graduate coordinator for the Gerontology Program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She graduated in 2014 from UNC Greensboro with a Ph.D. in Public Health Education and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Gerontology. Dr.Eifert served as a dementia educator in Florida for five years before returning to school to pursue her doctorate. Her research focuses on how individuals transition from their former role into the family caregiver role and how that tranistion effects identity and the use of home and community-based services.
