這些應用在孕婦檢查，可以避免先天性垂直感染造成胎兒的傷害，常規TORCH檢驗傾向於使用IgM來診斷孕婦現行性最近的感染，而所有的孕婦都要了解自己Toxoplasma及Rubella的IgG免疫狀況，對於CMV及HSV來自不同的學術意見認為應該用病毒培養才可以證實垂直感染。

Toxoplasmosis是一種全身性、寄生蟲(原蟲)Toxoplasmagondii弓漿蟲的疾病，感染是食用未煮熟的動物肉類，或清除貓糞食入弓漿蟲孢囊，可以穿過胎盤感染胎兒。

弓漿蟲可以到達身體很多組織部位，被感染的人如果免疫能力健全，一般沒事，在免疫機能不全者會產生極高熱、淋巴腺病、淋巴球增多症，有一些個案還會產生腦炎、肺炎、心肌炎、肌炎，也有可能死亡。

胎兒感染出生後會有嚴重的缺陷，失明、水腦、心智發育遲緩，也可能致死或產後死亡。

IgG診斷是否感染過弓漿虫，應用於懷孕，組織移植前。

孕婦如果在懷孕前一年已經知道ToxoplasmaIgGweak(+)弱陽性，表示過去的感染，可以放心的懷孕。

如果在懷孕期間檢驗結果是高抗體，代表可能是最近的感染(可以加驗IgM)，或者檢驗結果是陰性，代表未感染過，懷孕期間每次回診都應該追蹤抗體，直到懷孕滿第五個月，之後到生產前再做一次，來證明沒有被感染到。

IgM診斷孕婦感染，新生兒congenitalinfection，感染後4週內IgM可能還不會出現，出現後最長可以維持一年。

孕婦所有食物一定都要煮熟，家裡最好不要養貓，如果養了應該使用市售已煮熟的飼料，糞便應每天由別人清除，
