隨著植牙之於口內重建之盛行，植體周圍等相關併發症之機制與治療也愈遭重視，然而植體周圍炎的機制及與牙周疾病的相關性仍有許多為人所不明瞭之處，且關於其盛行率也因定義不同而尚無定論。
目的：藉由文獻回顧的方式探討比較植體周圍疾病的診斷方式與盛行率。
材料與方法：以電子搜尋方式尋找近五年關於植體周圍疾病的學術論文，鎖定主題為探討疾病盛行率的文獻。
結果：根據不同研究，植體周圍黏膜炎的盛行率約佔植體數的1%~47%，而植體周圍炎約為19%~63%，然因不統一的疾病定義與大多採用方便性樣本的研究，使不同研究結果差距極大，難以探討通用的數據。
結論比較數篇系統性文獻回顧方式的結果，以病人數統計的植體周圍炎盛行率約在18~21%，植體數的盛行率約為9%。
