美國、日本、歐洲各國的知名大學相繼成立新興病毒研究中心，加速了對病毒感染症的控制。

本校與長庚醫院在87年台灣地區爆發腸病毒71型大流行時，形成良好之合作團隊，腸病毒71型的各項研究均深獲國際之肯定。
