台語稱"目尖"(因為眼皮的腺體發炎產生膿頭,使眼皮尖尖的突出)。

人的眼瞼有許多睫毛及腺體(有三種..麥氏腺、蔡氏腺、莫氏腺)。

健康的眼瞼,其腺體的分泌及排泄皆正常,因此細菌不會在裡面繁殖發炎。

當睫毛或腺體感染細菌而發炎,就產生"針眼"，通常都是金黃色葡萄球菌感染。

誘發"針眼"的原因有三： 眼睛過度勞累,使眼睛四周的眼輪肌收縮,而把腺體開口堵塞。

用不乾淨的手去揉擦眼睛,使細菌自腺體開口處跑進去。

與食物有關的過敏,如有些人嗜食海鮮、巧克力等等而引起過敏並產生針眼。

另外一個名詞為霰粒腫Chalazion（霰：ㄒ一ㄢˋ），差別在於： FromOlverandCassidy(2005),OphthalmologyataGlance,BlackwellPublishing,reproducedwithpermission. 這兩種眼病,都發生在眼皮。

臨床上很類似。

不過,霰粒腫是麥氏腺體慢性炎症所引起的腫塊。

"麥粒腫"是毛囊或腺體的急性細菌感染發炎,所以眼皮會紅、腫、熱、痛。

發生部位在眼瞼緣。

"霰粒腫"是慢性炎症引起之腫塊,較不痛,發生部位距離眼瞼緣較遠。

所產生之腫塊由眼皮可以摸到,或是將眼皮翻過來時,在眼瞼的結膜上可以看到腫塊。

針眼如何治療?剛發生針眼時,眼皮腫痛,可用冰敷,並點消炎眼藥水,必要時口服抗生素。

大部分的病例在三至四天內可以消褪。

若腺體的開口被堵塞,引起腺體腫脹化膿,則須手術切開排膿。

 若霰粒腫很小且無症狀,則不需治療。

若霰粒腫很大,則可能使眼睛變形引起視力模糊。

治療方式可採用以下一種或合併兩種以上的方法:抗生素或類固醇眼藥水點眼,或局部病灶注射類固醇藥物。

熱敷;以乾淨的毛巾浸在熱水中(約攝氏五十至六十度)梢微擰乾後,敷在眼皮上(要閉著眼睛)五至十分鐘,每天三至四次。

熱敷之目的在使被堵塞的腺體開口打開,讓化膿物排除。

按摩擠壓腫塊部位,使腺體分泌物排擠出來。

手術切開排膿或將腫塊切除。

但記得不要自己隨便以未經消毒的針去挑,以免細菌感染。

有些人經常長"霰粒腫",要如何預防?一般而言,這種情形與個人之體質有關,如皮膚特別油膩的人就比較容易引起。

但若是霰粒腫一直在同一部位復發,而病灶區的睫毛也脫落的話,則要進一步做切片檢查,確定是否為惡性腫瘤。

預防方法有:平常多注意眼睛清潔。

不要使眼睛過度疲勞。

視力不良須配戴合適的眼鏡,以免常用力眨眼睛,使腺體開口逐漸被分泌物堵住。

眼皮發炎時,少吃油膩食物,尤其是花生,因為會使眼瞼的分泌物更多。
